ResultsWEST CHESTER, Pa. – Mike Oliver set a pool record, and Victor Polyakov was a double winner, as host West Chester swept its non-league swimming & diving tri-meet against Division III powers The College of New Jersey and Johns Hopkins inside Graham Natatorium Wednesday evening.
West Chester (7-0) remains unbeaten on the year in dual meets with the pair of wins. The Golden Rams grabbed first-place honors in eight events overall.
The Rams' 200-yard medley relay team started off the meet on the right foot by clocking the fastest dual-meet time in school history with a 1 minute, 32.84 second time. The foursome of Polyakov, Thomas McCormick, Luke Maguire and Evan Sherkness was just a harbinger of things to come.
Jared Haley won the 1000 free with a solid time of 9:36.43. Teammate Connor Forlini was third in 9:47.7. Polyakov won the 200 freestyle in 1:40.53 and also won the 100 free in 46.51. He was runner-up in the 1650 free (15:57.04).
Oliver won the 100 breaststroke in 57.92, but saved his best for the 200 breaststroke where he broke the pool record at Graham Natatorium with a time of 2:05.23. Maguire won the 100 butterfly with a dual-meet personal best time of 50.51. Oliver was also second in the 400 individual medley (4:09.33).
Eric Long picked up West Chester's only other first-place ribbon, winning the 200 butterfly in 1:54.62. The 400 free relay was runner-up in a time of 3:08.43. That foursome consisted of Haley, Sherkness, Bradley Strathmeyer and Daniil Sokman.
Tim Cenjia won the 1-meter springboard diving competition while teammate Zach Burns took first place off the 3m board. Cenjia posted a winning score of 301.75 while Burns registered a 306.45 to win his event. Cenjia was runner-up to Burns in the 3m competition with a score of 302.45 while Burns was runner-up in the 1m (280.30). Dan Roy placed third in both boards with a 265.70 on the 1m and a 292.55 on the 3m.
