Matt Wiseley (Emmaus, Pa. / Emmaus) recorded his third double-double of the season going for 14 points and 14 rebounds, 13 on the defensive end of the floor, to lift West Chester to a 81-76 victory over Bloomsburg inside Hollinger Fieldhouse Wednesday evening.
The Golden Rams (8-1, 6-1 PSAC) went on a 17-6 run from 2:06 left in the first half to the 16:58 mark in the second and grab the lead by two 38-36 and take the momentum for the rest of the half. WCU found themselves down four (34-30) going in halftime not making a single 3-pointer, but made the adjustments and attached the inside of the paint to hang on down the stretch with the Huskies.
Bloomsburg (5-5, 3-3 PSAC) jumped out to a nine-point lead (13-4) into the 11:24 mark of the first half to take control of the game early.
Guard
Tyrell Long (Philadelphia, Pa. / Bishop McDevitt), making his first start in his second season, scored a season-high 14 points to help the Golden Rams come away with a five-point win. Teammates
Malik Jackson (Lansdowne, Pa. / Penn Wood) and
Avery Brown (Mt. Laurel, NJ/ Lenape) each provided 10 points in the starting lineup and combined for seven rebounds; six on defense. Forward
Thomas White (Chester, Pa. / Penn Wood) also scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the game.
Huskies' Malik Garner had a team-high 16 points, shooting 6 for 9 from the field including three from 3-point range. Christian Mortellite was held 0-for-6 from long distance, but still poured in 15 points in the loss. Tyriek Steward added 15 points as well off the bench to provide a spark for Bloomsburg.
West Chester is back on the court this Saturday Dec. 13th to take on Bloomfield College of the Central Athletic Collegiate Conference (CACC) inside Hollinger Fieldhouse at 3 p.m.
