Wilson's Game-Winner Elevates West Chester To 7-0, Beat Rock 65-62

West Chester, Pa. –  Sr., G Milk Wilson (Philadelphia, Pa. / Martin Luther King) recorded a game-high 26 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer, to lift West Chester over Slippery Rock 65-62 inside Hollinger Field House Friday evening.

The Golden Rams (7-0, 5-0 PSAC) came back from their second largest deficit of the season at 13 points going into halftime as Wilson a couple feet beyond the right-side wing of the scores table swished his sixth 3-pointer of the game to put WCU up three with 4.8 second left on the clock. Slippery Rock (4-4, 1-3 PSAC) shot over 46 percent from the field to begin the game and then dropped off by 15 percentage points to allow the Golden Rams to steal the lead away.

WCU came out of the break to make to two straight baskets to cut the lead to nine and then a layup by Thomas White three straight bucket two jumpers to go on a 13-0 run with a 3-pointer by  Wilson to tie the game up at 39-39 before Pratt halted the run with a floater off the glass. Rock would go back up by four and then a three-point field goal by Malcolm Richardson to regain a seven point advantage. Richardson gunned down another shot from downtown to put the Rock back up double-digits (49-39).

Wilson hit back-to-back threes from 25 feet out to knot it up 62-62 with 1:54 left in the second period. WCU would close out the game on a 9-0 run to improve to 7-0 for the first time since the 2009-10 regular season.

Jr., Thomas White (Chester, Pa./Penn Wood) was limited to two points in the first half, but the Rocks defense was unable to contain him out of the break as the forward scored five of the first seven made baskets for the West Chester for 14 points in the second half and a season-high 16 points overall. His 10 points in the first three minutes out of the break were apart of the 13-0 run to begin the second period.

Front-court mate Matt Wiseley (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds outrebounding the conferences leader 6'8 forward Cornelius Brown (7) in a battle down in the paint between the number one and two rebounders in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. He added eight points and three steals in the winning effort.

Rocks' senior guard  Richardson led the team with 17 points, to go with three rebounds and three assists in the loss. Brown added 12 points in limited action after picking up his fourth foul.

West Chester will looks to keep the momentum flowing as they take on PSAC Crossover Edinboro tomorrow at 4 p.m.
