Meet ResultsPHILADELPHIA, Pa. – West Chester University's women's gymnastics squad set a new school record with an overall score of 190.725 and finished second at the University of Pennsylvania's quad meet Sunday afternoon.

The Golden Rams' new school mark on the vault of 48.275 catapulted West Chester into its second-place spot in the final event of the meet. The stellar performance was not enough to overcome host Penn, who won the meet with a 190.900. However, it did top fellow Ivy League participant Cornell (190.625) and Ursinus (190.475).

"We finished on vault, and all five gymnasts that we scored all hit their marks," WCU head coach Barb Cordova said. "It really was a great all-around effort by all the girls today."

Majesta Valentine (Wilmington, Del.) tied for the top spot on the vault with a new school record of 9.8. Teammate
Selena Swanger (Gettysburg, Pa.) was fifth with a 9.7.
Rose Wortman (Bellefonte, Pa.) tied for seventh with a 9.65,
Meghan Chan (Northvale, N.J.) scored a 9.575 and
Rachel Blair (Telford, Pa.) posted a 9.55.

Swanger and Valentine performed well in the all-around competition. Swanger put up her personal best with a 38.275 to place second behind Valentine's 38.375. Valentine also won the floor exercise with a score of 9.825 to power her all-around score.

Meghan Brannon (Seminole, Fla.) tied for third on the uneven bars with a 9.7 to lead the Golden Rams' contingent in that category. Madi Brent supported Valentine's win on the floor exercise with a 9.7 as well.

West Chester heads home for its first meet inside Sturzebecker Health Science Center this coming Saturday when Ursinus, Rhode Island College and University of Bridgeport compete in the quad meet. Things get under way at 4 p.m.
