Box Score 2 WEST CHESTER, Pa. – West Chester University got a solid effort from starter Eric Close in game one and a complete game from Nick Stallings in game two to lead the Golden Rams to a doubleheader sweep over visiting Kutztown Monday afternoon at Serpico Stadium.

West Chester (6-5, 4-2 PSAC East) has won six of its last eight contests while Kutztown (9-5, 1-5) has now dropped five of six conference encounters.

Close (1-1) scattered seven hits across six innings, allowing a pair of runs in a 6-2 victory in game one. He struck out five and did not walk a batter. Dylan Tice hit a solo home run, his fourth of the season, and singled in another, finishing 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI. Drew Diehl had a pair of RBI as well, including a sacrifice fly.

In the nightcap, lefty Nick Stallings (2-0) allowed three runs, two of them earned, on six hits. He walked two and struck out seven, outdueling Kutztown lefty Paul Piromalli (2-1), who suffered his first defeat of the season.

Robert Knox finished 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI while Matt Petrizzi was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI.

West Chester and Kutztown will play another doubleheader at Serpico Stadium on Wednesday with West Chester batting first, and Kutztown serving as the home team.
