Box Score ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Dylan Tice, Drew Diehl and Justin Roman each had four hits as West Chester University's bats came alive against PSAC East rival Mansfield to the tune of a 23-9 victory Monday morning at Walter Fuller Field.
West Chester (1-3) banged out 19 hits in the win, jumping on Mansfield early with a 9-run first inning. The Rams added seven more in the fifth and five more in the eighth for the majority of the team's scoring.
Diehl had four RBI and three runs scored from his leadoff position. Tice knocked in five runs and hit an inside-the-park home run. Roman knocked in five runs as well.
Gutowski (1-0) came on in relief of Jonathan Motts, who lasted 3.1 innings. Gutowski gave up two unearned runs on five hits in 3.2 innings of work. Mike Cipolla finished up with two scoreless innings of relief.
West Chester is back at Jack Russell Stadium, the former spring home of the Philadelphia Phillies, on Tuesday morning for a meeting with the University of Tampa.
