West Chester Opens PSAC Tournament Wednesday Morning

BUTLER, Pa.
– The West Chester University Baseball squad opens play at the 2015 PSAC Tournament early Wednesday morning against Slippery Rock University. First pitch of the double elimination tournament is slated for 9:30 a.m.
 
The game will be held in Kelly Automotive Park in Butler, Pa. The daily Ticket rate is $10 for adults, $5 for students, and free admission for PSAC students with a valid school ID.
 
No. 2 seed out of the Eastern Division, West Chester (26-11) faces No. 3 in the West, Slippery Rock (29-16), for the third time this year. The two schools played a doubleheader while on spring break in Clearwater, Fla.
 
Senior shortstop, Dylan Tice, who wa recently named the PSAC Eastern Division athlete of the year, has been the leading hitter for the Golden Rams this season with a .450 batting average, .853 slugging percentage, and 53 runs scored. Tice is also a semifinalist for the Tino Martinez Award, which is awarded to the Division II national player of the year.
 
Andrew Gernert, also a first-team All-PSAC East selection as a right-handed pitcher, is 4-2 this spring with a 3.38 ERA in 45.1 innings pitched.
 
The double-elimination tournament will continue throughout the rest of the week with the conference championship game slated for Saturday afternoon.
