WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University clinched the PSAC Eastern Division regular-season title with a 9-0 win over visiting Cheyney University on a gorgeous Monday afternoon on South Campus.
West Chester (9-6, 5-0 PSAC East) clinched the title with ease and remained undefeated in league play. The Golden Rams receive a bye into the conference semifinals, which will take place at Bloomsburg University the weekend of April 24-25. Cheyney fell to 0-12 on the year and 0-5 in conference play.
West Chester's ninth-ranked first doubles team of Claire Uhle and Maddy Shaak remained unbeaten in dual match play, running their winning streak to 15 with an 8-0 win. Abriana Nolan and Amalie Hartman picked up a win at second doubles while West Chester took a forfeit win at third doubles.
Nolan won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles. Alyssa Rees, Kristen Wong, Stefanie Cifarelli, Samantha Markey and Hartman also won at second thru sixth singles.
West Chester is scheduled to play a non-conference tilt with Roberts Wesleyan Tuesday afternoon, before heading to Millersville on the weekend for the final PSAC regular season dual match.
