No. 2 West Chester Shuts Out Slippery Rock, 3-0

Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Junior forward Marnie Kusakavitch (Pittston, Pa./Holy Redeemer) continued to put pressure on opposing team's defenses, capturing her second two-goal game of the year, to lift West Chester past Slippery Rock, 3-0, at Vonnie Gros Field on a muggy Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Rams (4-0, 1-0 PSAC), after falling behind early in their two previous games against Stonehill and Shippensburg, took charge early and led 1-0 heading into the half. The Rock's (2-2, 0-1 PSAC) offense was limited to only seven shots the entire game and was unable to get on the board.

Dayle Paustian (Martinsville, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) added her fourth goal of the season to put WCU up by two in the 49th minute. The offense was busy in The Rock's territory, out shooting them 23-7 to go with a 15-2 penalty corner differential.

The Golden Rams' goalkeeper Sarah Krause (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) played all 70 minutes in goal, making three saves for her first shutout of the season to improve her personal record to 4-0.

West Chester will look to keep the momentum going as the Golden Rams hit the road for a four-game road-slate, beginning with a matchup against PSAC rival Kutztown on Sept. 15th at 7 p.m.
