No. 20 West Chester Ties Best Start In School History, Defeat Millersville

Box Score

West Chester, Pa. – West Chester's Men's Basketball team shot a season-high 61.7 percent from the field and 71.4 percent from beyond the arc to push themselves past Millersville, 101-59 inside Hollinger Field House Wednesday night.

The Golden Rams (15-2, 11-2 PSAC) right out of the gate went on a 16-4 fun to begin the first half and would never look back from that point forward. They matched their best start in the school history since the 1949-50 team did it to finished 17-2 overall. Millersville (2-15, 2-11 PSAC) could not get anything going after cutting into the deficit to be down by four points at the 13:21 mark, but would not get that close again and would fall behind a game-high 47 points with three minutes to go in the game.

Guard Avery Brown (Mt. Laurel, NJ/ Lenape) scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the team in both categories.

Senior Mike Wilson (Philadelphia, Pa. / Martian Luther King) and Freshman Malik Jackson (Lansdowne, Pa. / Penn Wood) added 13 points each and went a combined 8 for 11 from the field. Wilson also contributed four rebounds, three steals, and two assists in the victory.

Matt Wiseley (Emmaus, Pa. / Emmaus) recorded 11 points, four rebounds, three steals, and two assists, while teammate Jordan Greene (Philadelphia, Pa. / Abington Friends) registered a season-high 10 points as a part of a team-total 48 bench points in the game.

Marauders' Scott Slade scored a team-high 12 points and added four rebounds in the loss.

It was the second time that the Golden Rams have scored over 100 points in a game since beating Wilmington (Del.) 103-92 in a double-overtime thriller back on December 30th at home. WCU registered its largest margin of victory (42) during the 2015-16 season.

West Chester will take its four-game winning streak to Lock Haven in a PSAC face off this Saturday at 4 p.m.
