No. 22 West Chester Victorious Over Cal, 81-67

Box Score

CALIFORNIA, Pa. – Mike Wilson (Philadelphia, Pa./Martin Luther King) posted 15 points off the bench to spark No. 22 West Chester to an 81-67 victory over host California (Pa.) in a PSAC men's basketball contest inside the Convocation Center Wednesday evening.

West Chester (12-1, 8-1 PSAC) remains atop the PSAC East standings with the best record in the conference while Cal (5-9, 3-6) dropped its second straight game and fourth in its last five. With the win, head coach Damien Blair picked up his 139th career victory and moved into second place all alone on the school's all-time wins list.

Freshman guard Matt Penecale (Jenkintown, Pa./Abington) registered a double-double with 10 points and a season-best 11 assists – which ties the fourth-best single-game effort in school history. The last Golden Rams player to dish out that many helpers in a game was Donta Evans in 1998.

Thomas White (Chester, Pa./Penn Wood) picked up his first double-double of the season and second as a Golden Rams player. He posted 14 points and 10 rebounds in the win. He also had a double-double against Lincoln last winter.

West Chester landed five players in double figures in the scoring column overall. Avery Brown (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) added 12 points, and Matt Wiseley (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) registered 11.

West Chester returns home Saturday for a 4 p.m. tip against PSAC East rival East Stroudsburg on Saturday at 4 p.m., after the women's game.
