Women's Tennis A 7-2 Victor Over Chestnut Hill

PHILADELPHIA – West Chester University's women's tennis squad picked up a win with a 7-2 victory on the road at Chestnut Hill College Wednesday afternoon.
 
West Chester (2-0) was victorious in five of its six singles matches, after taking a 2-1 lead following the doubles competition.
 
Claire Uhle (Blue Bell, Pa./Wisahickon) and Maddy Shaak (Myerstown, Pa./Eastern Lebanon County) were 8-2 winners at first doubles while Sophie Rathmell (Lancaster, Pa./McCaskey) and Alyssa Rees (Morgantown, W.Va./University) were 8-3 winners at third doubles to give the Golden Rams a 2-1 lead coming out of doubles play.
 
The Golden Rams proceeded to pick up wins at Nos. 2 through 6 singles, with Abriana Nolan (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) providing the clinching victory at fourth singles, to finish off the Griffins. Nolan was a 6-2, 6-2 victor in her match. All of West Chester's singles wins were in straight sets.
 
The women's squad will head to Bloomsburg this weekend for the PSAC Individual Championships, which were rained out last weekend. Their PSAC contests against Indiana (Pa.) and Seton Hill, originally scheduled for this coming weekend, have been moved to the following weekend (Oct. 14-15).
