Men's Soccer Drops NCAA Tournament Match At Charleston, 2-0

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - West Chester University dropped a 2-0 decision in its NCAA Tournament opening-round contest Saturday evening at Schoenbaum Stadium.

West Chester (11-5-3), making its first NCAA appearance since 2002, surrendered a pair of second-half goals with the first coming on a penalty kick. Charleston (17-2-1), ranked fourth in the country and first in the Atlantic Region, advances to the third round of the NCAA Tournament with the win.

The Golden Eagles converted a penalty kick in the 49th minute, and then added an insurance tally with just over three minutes to play in the game to pick up the win on its home field.

James Wood (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) made three saves, all in the first half, in the loss. The Golden Rams were outshot by a 17-4 margin with just one of their shots on goal.
