West Chester Defeats Mansfield 73-62 On Senior Day

West Chester, Pa. – West Chester had six players score in double-figures to lift the Golden Rams past Mansfield, 73-62, inside Hollinger Field Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Rams (19-4, 15-4 PSAC) doubled up the Mountaineers in the first half (26-13), forcing them into 13 turnovers in the lone half and 24 for the game compared to their 13 for the entire 40 minutes. Mansfield (5-18, 3-15 PSAC) found themselves within three, five minutes into the second half, but could not capitalize to lead at any point.

With the win, West Chester remains in a first-place tie with Kutztown, who defeated East Stroudsburg Saturday atop the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division standings. The Golden Rams and Golden Bears are now two games up on the Warriors and Bloomsburg Huskies, who are tied for third. All four teams have three regular-season games left on the 2015-16 slate with West Chester traveling to Kutztown on the last day of the season.

Forward Matt Wiseley (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) recorded 14 points and 14 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season. Senior guard Avery Brown (Mt. Laurel, N.J./Lenape) added 10 points, six rebounds and two steals in the victory. Mike Wilson (Philadelphia, Pa./Martin Luther King) registered 10 points as well, all in the first half.

Fr., G Malik Jackson (Lansdowne, Pa./Penn Wood) led the tream with 15 points. Matt Penecale (Jenkintown, Pa./Abington) scored 10 points and had a team-high five assists. Jahmahl Slater (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) contributed 10 points down in the paint to push WCU over the top in the victory.

Mountaineers' Thomas Moore led his team with 13 points, six rebounds and four assists. Matt Tamanosky added 11 points and nine rebounds while Eric Lewis Jr. scored 11 points as well in the loss.

Prior to the game, the West Chester men's basketball program honored its three senior players for the contributions that each one has given to the team in their careers.

West Chester gets back on the court for its last regular-season game at home against Cheyney this Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
