Box Score AUBURNDALE, Fla. – West Chester University's baseball squad dropped its final game on the team's spring break trip to Florida by an 11-9 measure to Slippery Rock Thursday morning.

The Golden Rams (8-3) and The Rock (5-12) traded the lead four times in the nine-inning affair. However, a four-spot in both the fourth and sixth innings for Slippery Rock proved to be too much to overcome for West Chester in the end.

West Chester scored nine runs on just six hits and did not commit an error. But, Slippery Rock scored 11 runs on 18 hits, even though it committed four errors.

The Rams scored a run in the bottom of the first inning to jump out on top early. That was short-lived when The Rock responded with three runs of their own in the second frame. West Chester got one back in its half, and then threw up three runs of its own in the third to take a 5-3 lead.

That is when Slippery Rock scored four times in the fourth and four more times in the sixth to get out in front, 11-5. West Chester responded with three more runs in the bottom of the sixth and one more in the seventh, but could not complete the comeback.

West Chester's three-four-five hitters were held in check, combining to go just 2-for-13. Joe Sheeran and Nick Ward each recorded a pair of RBI to lead the Rams' offensive attack. Six different players registered a hit in the Golden Rams' lineup Thursday.

West Chester will travel to University of the Sciences on Sunday for a non-league single game at 12 p.m.
