Box Score 2 WEST CHESTER, Pa. - After losing a heart breaker in game one by a score of 6-5, the Golden Rams bounced back with a 19-8 game two victory over No. 3 Millersville University on a sunny Saturday at Serpico Stadium. The game two win ended the Marauders' winning streak at 22 games.
Trailing 1-0 entering the bottom of the third in game one, West Chester (14-7, 4-4) put three runs on the scoreboard.
Drew Diehl (Unionville, Pa./Unionville) doubled to lead off the inning. A
Nick Ward (Unionville, Pa./Unionville) single down the left field line scored Diehl. WCU added two more unearned runs to build a 3-1 lead.
Millersville (23-2, 7-1) cut the deficit to 3-2 on a RBI sacrifice fly in the sixth inning.
Nick Stallings (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) cruised through the first six innings, allowing one earned run on four hits. However, a popup lost in the sun, a line drive that was in-and-out of Ward's glove at full extension, a hit batter, and grand slam later the Golden Rams trailed 6-3.
West Chester did not go down without a fight. The Golden Rams rallied in the bottom half of the seventh with two outs.
Zach Sheranko (Tannersville, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) and
Joe Sheeran (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) RBI singles pulled WCU within a run. However, West Chester would strand the tying and go ahead runs, falling 6-5 in game one.
Diehl, Ward, and Sheranko all were 2-for-4 in game one.
Moments after losing a tight game, the Rams fell behind 5-0 after one inning of play in game two. A Marauder home run in the third extended their lead to 6-0. However, the Golden Rams did not roll over.

Anthony Salomone (Dillsburg, Pa./North York) for WCU's first run of the game in the bottom of the third.
West Chester would send 17 batters to the plate in the bottom of the fourth, scoring 13 runs off of four Millersville arms.
A two RBI double off the bat of
Tyler Coleman (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) started the fourth inning scoring. A Salomone double followed by a
Bill Ford (Parkside, Pa./Malvern Prep) two RBI single cut the margin to 6-5.
West Chester would take their first lead of the game on a Ward two RBI triple to the left center fence. Leading 7-6, Sheeran doubled to right center, scoring Sheranko and Ward and extending the lead to 9-6.
WCU would score five more in the fourth highlighted by a Diehl line drive home run that quickly cleared the fence for his fourth homer of the season.
Millersville and WCU exchanged two runs apiece in the fifth inning.
The Golden Rams added three more insurance runs in the sixth to increase the lead to 19-8, the eventual final score of game two.
Nick Ward was 5-for-5 in game two and 7-for-9 on the day.
Andrew Gernett (Lenhartsville, Pa./Kutztown) was the game two winner and moves to 3-0 on the year.
West Chester hosts Kutztown University on Friday, April 1 at Serpico Stadium. Games are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. starts.
