KUTZTOWN, Pa. – West Chester University split its PSAC East baseball doubleheader with the Kutztown as the Golden Rams fell by one (2-1) in the first game and then came back to win game two, 7-1, at North Campus Field Saturday afternoon.
West Chester (16-9, 6-6 PSAC) rebounded from a one-run loss to KU in the first game by coming out with a five spot in the first three innings of the second game. Kutztown (14-17, 5-7 PSAC) was able to do enough to score the final run for the win in game one, but would be limited to only one run, which was not scored until the bottom of the fifth in game two.
Bill Ford went 2-for-4 in game two, smashing a two-run homer for his first of the season and to cap off WCUs scoring. He also had an RBI-double in the third inning for three RBIs. Center fielder Drew Diehl scored two runs by getting on base twice, including a double en route to scoring the first run of the game. Teammate Nick Bateman went 2-for-3 at the plate for three runs scored, and a RBI, and a walk to help his team create a comfortable lead.
Golden Bears' Eric Lane went 3-for-6 on the day with three singles, scoring the game-winning run in the first game while knocking in the lone run for KU in game two.
West Chester comes home for a non-conference single game with University of the Science at Serpico Stadium at 3 p.m.
