WEST CHESTER, Pa. -
Jason Pixley (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) scored his second goal of the season, but visiting Wilmington (Del.) took a 2-1 non-league men's soccer decision at Rockwell Field Tuesday afternoon.
Pixley scored in the 68th minute to pull West Chester (4-2-1) within striking distance, but the Golden Rams could not convert a pair of corner kicks in the final 45 seconds of the game to get the equalizer. Wilmington (4-1-0) raced out to a 2-0 lead and made that advantage hold up the rest of the way.
The visiting Wildcats scored the only tally of the first half on a header off a corner in the 20th minute. Wilmington added to its lead in the 57th minute, before Pixley cut the deficit in half nine minutes later.
Wilmington outshot West Chester, 10-6, while the Golden Rams held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
James Wood (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) made four saves on the day while Vinny Tasca was credited with three.
West Chester travels to Shippensburg on Saturday for its next PSAC challenge.
