WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Sophomore
Kaitlin Hatch (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) scored twice as host West Chester University downed visiting Slippery Rock, 4-2, in the PSAC opener for both schools on a cool Saturday afternoon at Vonnie Gros Field.
West Chester (4-4, 1-0 PSAC) opened the conference slate on the right foot while Slippery Rock (3-5, 0-1) dropped its conference opener, despite a valiant effort from goalkeeper Nicole Bream.
Hatch posted the first multiple-goal game of her young career while freshman
Maya Gulliksen (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) registered a pair of assists, and
Rachal Toppi (Glassboro, N.J./Glassboro) scored a goal and assisted on another.
West Chester battered Slippery Rock's cage with 26 shots. However, Bream made 10 saves to keep The Rock in the contest throughout. Two of the Golden Rams' goals came off opportunities following a penalty corner. Hatch's first goal and Toppi's marker in the 49th minute were each tips off shots from the top of the circle. West Chester held a 12-3 advantage on penalty corners.

West Chester hosts top-seeded East Stroudsburg on Wednesday at Vonnie Gros Field.
