WEST CHESTER, Pa. –West Chester's
Zach Bare (Reiserstown, Md./St. Paul's) hit a corner three with 35 seconds remaining to bring the game within three points, but it would not be enough as West Chester fell to visiting Lock Haven this afternoon, 88-83.
West Chester (8-10, 6-7 PSAC) was in control for most of the game, until Lock Haven (9-8, 5-8 PSAC) seized all momentum at the 10-minute mark in the second half by going on an 18-0 run over a five-minute stretch.
Lock Haven's Amir Hinton started to heat up during that span, coming away with 21 points in the second half en route to a big PSAC East victory for the Bald Eagles. Hinton finished with 30 points and seven rebounds in the contest.
The Golden Rams had four players reach double-figures in the game. Bare finished with a career-high 27 points, including five shots from downtown.
Meanwhile,
Tyrell Long (Philadelphia, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) stuffed the stat sheet by contributing 15 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists, six steals, and two blocks.
After posting a career high 30 points against Millersville,
Jackson Hyland (Avondale, Pa. / Kennett) followed up that performance up with 14 points, nine rebounds, and three steals.
Sophomore
Malik Jackson (Lansdowne, Pa. / Penn Wood) provided 12 points, while
Matt Penecale (Jenkintown, Pa. / Abington) chipped in eight points, six assists, and five rebounds.
The Golden Rams struggled from the floor this evening, going 40 percent from the floor (30-75) and a 27.3 percentage from downtown (9-33).
The Bald Eagles emphasized attacking the paint and going to the charity stripe against West Chester. Lock Haven shot a total of 45 free throws, compared to West Chester's 24 in the contest.
West Chester concluded its three-game home stand with a 2-1 record. The Golden Rams now must travel to Kutztown University for a matchup with the Golden Bears on Wednesday, January 25th inside Keystone Arena at 7:30 p.m.
