West Chester Men Compete At Collegeville Classic

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ghassan Dix placed fifth in the 400m and helped the 4x400m relay team to a runner-up position for West Chester University's men's track & field team at the Collegeville Classic inside the Floy Lewis Bakes Center Saturday afternoon.
 
Dix crossed the finish line in 52.42 seconds, just ahead of teammate Shawn Young (52.48), to pace the Golden Rams in the sprints. Dix and Young were the first two runners up on the Golden Rams' 4x400m relay team that was second in 3:31.29. Jim McDaid and Colin McClusick were the other two participants on that relay team.
 
Derrick Clements was sixth in the 200m (23.58). Josh Coakley placed fourth in the 800m with a time of 2 minutes, 02.15 seconds, while West Chester also claimed sixth and seventh in the event.
 
The Golden Rams seemed to fare much better in the distance and field events on Saturday at Ursinus College. Andrew Dombrowiecki finished fourth overall in the 5000m with a time of 16:16.73. Nick Angelina came in seventh in the mile run (4:40.19).
 
Pacing the Rams in the field events was Bryce Sadler, who was runner-up in the shot put. Teammate Nicholas Robinson was fifth. Sadler put the shot 45 feet, 10 inches while Robinson put it 43-9. Joseph Adighibe leaped 21-1½ in the long jump to place third overall.
 
West Chester returns to action next Friday and Saturday at the Bison Open & Multi's.
