PISCATAWAY, N.J. – West Chester University placed fourth overall in a quadrangular hosted by Rutgers University inside Livingston Gym Saturday night.

No. 10 Nebraska won the quadrangular with a team score of 196.050. Rutgers, ranked 54th nationally coming in, was second with a 194.200, and Brown, currently 51st, was third with a 190.650. West Chester, ranked 57th, was fourth with a 190.475.

"It was a lot of pressure with Nebraska there," ninth-year head coach Barbara Cordova said. "But, I thought it was a good meet. Our girls did well considering the circumstances."

West Chester recorded a pair of season highs on both the floor exercise and the vault. The Golden Rams scored a 48.3 on the floor and 48.0 on the vault to highlight the meet.

Senior
Majesta Valentine (Wilmington, Del.) placed sixth in the all-around with a score of 38.175. She was fifth on the floor exercise (9.825), sixth on the balance beam (9.75) and ninth on the vault (9.725).

Meghan Chan (Northvale, N.J.) was the team's top finisher on the beam, placing fourth with a career-high 9.8. One judge gave Chan a 9.9. Her fourth-place showing was the highest by a Golden Rams gymnast in any event on Saturday as well.

Samantha Engle (Beaver Falls, Pa.) scored a 9.65 on the vault. A pair of freshmen,
Myranda Marshall (Lancaster, Pa.) and
Isabella D'Orazio (Limerick, Pa.), led West Chester on the parallel bars. Though the Rams labored in this event Saturday, the two first-year college gymnasts performed well.

"Obviously, we struggled on bars," Cordova added. "But, I just want to commend those two freshmen on a job well done."

West Chester hosts Penn next Saturday in the Golden Rams' home opener inside Sturzebecker Health Sciences Center. That meet is a 1 p.m. start.
