WEST CHESTER, Pa.-The West Chester University women's volleyball team (16-5, 6-4 PSAC) hosted the Shippensburg University Raiders (16-5, 9-0 PSAC) in an important PSAC crossover match on Saturday afternoon. Shippensburg went on to win the match in three sets (25-23, 25-21, 27-25).
How it Happened:
- The first set was tight throughout but Shippensburg ultimately used a late surge after a timeout to win the first set.
- In the second set it was tight once again but once Shippensburg took the lead 10-9 they would not look back as they would pull away to win the second set by a score of 25-21.
- In the third set West Chester pushed hard and even held a 25-24 lead but they were unable to close out the third set victory as Shippensburg would prove to be too much going on to win the third set and the match.
Inside the Numbers:
- Karleigh Lutz (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) led West Chester in kills recording 10 on the afternoon.
- Jillian Grammer(Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) led the Golden Rams in assists as she contributed 27 assists on the afternoon.
- Nicki Yates (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) chipped in 24 digs to try and hold off the Shippensburg attack.
