LAKEWOOD, N.J.-The West Chester University Golden Rams (18-6) took to the road for a non-conference match against the Georgian Court University Lions(9-16) on Tuesday evening. The Golden Rams went on to win by a final score of 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-8).
How it Happened:
- The first set was tight throughout and Georgian Court was able to take the first set 25-23 to grab an early 1-0 lead.
- In the second set West Chester played well and earned the 25-21 second set victory.
- The third set was more of the same as West Chester came out strong and earned the 25-16 victory to take a 2-1 lead.
- In the fourth set West Chester looked strong once again and they put their foot on the pedal flying past the Lions winning by a score of 25-8 to take the match by a score of 3-1.
Inside the Numbers:
- Karleigh Lutz (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) had a huge night recording a match high and season high 21 kills while also turning in 16 digs on the evening.
- Nicki Yates (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) Â had a strong day of her own as she recorded 23 digs in the match.
- Jillian Grammer (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) turned in yet another strong performance recording 48 assists, 15 digs, and four aces en route to the four set victory.
- West Chester hit .235 on the match while holding Georgian Court to a hitting percentage of .109.
