West Chester Tops Edinboro, 3-1

Edinboro, Pa.-The West Chester University volleyball team(19-6, 8-5 PSAC) took to the road on Friday night as they traveled to Edinboro(15-8, 5-7 PSAC) for a PSAC crossover match. The Golden Rams won the match in four sets (25-19, 25-22, 23-25, 25-18).
How it Happened:
  • The first set was back and forth until the set became tied at 13-13. West Chester took off from here winning 12 of the next 18 points to take the set 25-19.
  • The second set was more of the same but West Chester was ultimately able to  win the final few crucial points in the set to take the second set by a score of 25-22.
  • The third set was tight throughout and Edinboro used a late charge to win the set 25-23 forcing a fourth set.
  • In the fourth set West Chester took control late in the set once again winning the fourth set by a score of 25-18 to win the match 3-1.
Inside the Numbers:
  • Abbie Dischert (Wilmington, De./Concord), Victoria Cruciani (Phoenixville, Pa./Pope John Paul II), and Allie Duffy (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) contributed 10 kills a piece to lead the Golden Rams offensive attack.
  • Jillian Grammer (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) led the way in assists once again as she turned in a match high 41 assists while also chipping in 11 digs.
  • Nicki Yates (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh)  led the Golden Rams in digs as she recorded 22 on the match while also recording two aces.
  • West Chester recorded a hitting percentage of .184 on the match while holding Edinboro to a percentage of .123. West Chester also forced Edinboro to hit for a percentage of -.056 in the fourth set.

West Chester stays on the road tomorrow afternoon as they travel to Slippery Rock for a 1 pm start.
