EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa.-The West Chester University women's volleyball team (22-7, 11-6 PSAC) took to the road on Friday night to face East Stroudsburg (16-13, 6-11 PSAC). West Chester was seeking to avenge a loss at the hands of the Warriors earlier this season and that is exactly what they did as they won the match in five sets (25-20, 25-23, 24-26,22-25,15-9). This victory also gave the Golden Rams the PSAC Southeast division title.
How it Happened:
- In the first set ESU won the first two points but then the Golden Rams got on a big 9-1 run to take the lead by a commanding 9-3 margin early in the set. West Chester did not look back from here as they went on to win the first set 25-20.
- In the second set West Chester got down early but a big run midway through the set proved to be enough to complete the comeback and lift West Chester to 25-23 second set win and a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.
- In the third set it appeared as if West Chester would be able to close the book on this match in three sets but a late charge by ESU gave the Warriors the 26-24 set win and pushed the match to a fourth set.
- The fourth set was back and forth throughout and the Warriors were able to prevail once again winning by a score of 25-22.
- In the fourth set West Chester held an early lead and this would be enough to propel them to the 15-9 victory to win the match in five sets.
