West Chester Prepares for PSAC Quarterfinals vs Seton Hill

WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The West Chester University volleyball team looks to continue what has been a very successful fall season for the Golden Rams fall teams as they begin their quest for a PSAC tournament title on Tuesday night opposite Seton Hill. West Chester enters the tournament as the number six overall seed and they will be traveling to Seton Hill who is the three seed on Tuesday night with that match scheduled to get underway at 7 pm.

West Chester (23-7, 12-6 PSAC) enters the match on a three-game winning streak after defeating East Stroudsburg and Kutztown over the weekend.
Seton Hill enters off a loss having lost to IUP (Pa.) 3-1 on the final day of the regular season.

West Chester faced Seton Hill back on September 23rd inside the friendly confines of Sturzebecker Health Science Center and West Chester pulled the upset winning by a score of 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-10). Abbie Dischert (Wilmington De./Concord) and Karleigh Lutz (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) each had strong days in the victory as they recorded 10 kills a piece to help pull off the upset. Jillian Grammer (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) had a strong day of her own in that victory as she registered 33 assists on the match. Nicki Yates (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) also turned in her usual strong performance as she tallied 18 digs on the match.

One player to watch in this match will be Lutz who had a strong weekend this past week in the wins over East Stroudsburg and Kutztown. In these two victories she recorded 30 kills and 26 digs to help lead West Chester to two nice victories. Yates has had a great year as well recording a team high 591 digs while she also leads the PSAC in Aces with 51 and Aces per set with (0.52).

West Chester leads the PSAC in opponent hitting percentage as they have been able to limit their opponents to a hitting percentage of just .108.

A year ago West Chester traveled to Gannon in the PSAC quarterfinals where they fell by a score of 3-0.

If West Chester wins they face the winner of the Gannon/Clarion match in the PSAC semifinals on Friday night.
