NCAA DII Women's Volleyball Tournament - Interactive Bracket
WEST CHESTER, Pa. – West Chester University's women's volleyball squad prepares for its first round matchup with Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) in the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Tournament on Thursday at 5 p.m.
The No. 5 seeded Golden Rams (24-8) will travel to Alma Grace McDonough Center, located in Wheeling, West Virginia for its third NCAA Tournament match in school history. This is the second time in school history when the field of 64 teams was revealed that the Golden Rams found out that they were dancing.
Back in 2015, West Chester downed the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in the Atlantic Region Quarterfinal for its first NCAA Tournament win. The Golden Rams fell to Gannon in the regional semifinals, but gained valuable experience moving forward.
Meanwhile, the Crimson Hawks are the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament. All of the Atlantic Region games will be played at Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, W.Va. Nov. 30-Dec 2. Eight teams were selected from each of the following eight regions: Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West.
Wheeling Jesuit is the top seed in the Atlantic Region and will take on Winston-Salem State in the first round. Third-seeded Pitt-Johnstown, fresh off its PSAC Tournament title two weeks ago, will play sixth-seeded Seton Hill while second-seeded Gannon, runner-up in the PSAC Tournament, will face seventh-seeded Shippensburg.
Eight, eight-team regionals will be played at on-campus sites. Regional competition will be single-elimination, best three-of-five-set matches and will not include a third-place match. The winners of each of the eight regionals will advance to the finals, Dec. 7-9, at the University of West Florida Field House in Pensacola, Fla.
