West Chester Tops Ursinus in Regular-Season Finale

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – West Chester captured a 193.675-191.500 victory over Ursinus in the regular-season finale today, inside Sturzebecker Health Science Center.
 
The Golden Rams' posted their second highest score of the year with a total of 193.675, which only fell short to the program record (194.4) that transpired against Springfield earlier this season.
 
Sr., Majesta Valentine (Wilmington, Del.) claimed the top spot in the vault (9.725), floor (9.875), and the all-around (39.175). She also tied for first in the bars with teammate Myranda Marshall (Lancaster, Pa) at 9.750.
 
Teammate, Selena Swanger (Gettysburg, Pa.) finished runner-up on the vault (9.625) as well as the all-around (38.6).
 
On the beam, Ursinus' Kaelin Ruoss came away with the top score by registering a 9.900. Valentine finished third in the event with a 9.825.
 
West Chester went 24/24 for the second time this season and in head coach Barbara Cordova's career.
 
"Our goal was to do it for the seniors and all the girls kept that in mind," Cordova said. "They competed for the seniors and all they have done that past four years."
 
This senior class has rewritten the record book with their performances over the past four years here at West Chester. The four seniors consisted of of Samantha Engle (Beaver Falls, Pa.), Kristen Torres (Paradise, Pa.), Swanger, and Valentine.
 
Next Saturday, West Chester will host the ECAC DII Championships inside Hollinger Fieldhouse at noon.
