WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University continued its shutout streak over Eastern Division opponents with a 9-0 blanking over visiting East Stroudsburg on a windy Wednesday afternoon on South Campus.
West Chester (9-2, 2-0 PSAC East) has now won 12 straight conference matches without yielding a court to their division rivals. Bloomsburg was the last East school to win a court during an 8-1 WCU victory back in 2015. The Golden Rams have now won four straight overall on the year.
Claire Uhle (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon),
Maddy Shaak (Myerstown, Pa./Eastern Lebanon County),
Rylee Power (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) Abriana Nolan (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) and
Steph Cifarelli (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) were all double winners for the Golden Rams, taking both their singles matches and doubles competitions. Both Uhle and Shaak were 6-0, 6-0 winners, who teamed up at first doubles for an 8-2 win.
Power teamed with
Grace Towler (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) at second doubles for an 8-2 win as well. Power dispatched her opponent at third singles, 6-3, 6-1. Meanwhile, Nolan and Cifarelli were 8-4 winners at third doubles. Nolan took a 6-1, 6-1 decision at fourth singles, and Cifarelli a 6-2, 6-0 verdict at sixth singles.
West Chester will travel to Harford Community College on Saturday for a non-conference match, before heading back home on Sunday, April 2 for a league tilt with Bloomsburg.
