PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Majesta Valentine (Wilmington, Del.) finished second in the all-around and placed third on the balance beam, leading West Chester to a third-place finish at the UPenn Quadrangular Sunday afternoon.
West Chester finished the meet with a 192.950, beating host Penn, which registered a 191.475. Penn State won the meet with a 196.200 while ECAC rival Bridgeport was second with a 193.875.
West Chester (8-11) set a school record on the vault with a 48.675. Rachel Blair (Telford, Pa.) scored a 9.8 on the vault while
Lindsey Mathis (Walford, Md.) posted a 9.7 to lead the Golden Rams in that event. West Chester started the meet on the uneven bars and posted the team's second-highest score of the season, 48.350.
Meghan Chan (Northvale, N.J.) scored a 9.75 on the bars while
Myranda Marshall (Lancaster, Pa.) registered a 9.7.
Valentine's 9.8 on the balance beam was good for a third-place showing while her all-around score of 39.250 was second behind Penn State's Briannah Tsang, who posted a 39.425.
West Chester returns home on March 11 for a dual meet against Ursinus inside Sturzebecker HSC.
