West Chester Falls to Clarion 3-1

Clarion, Pa.-The West Chester University women's volleyball team(11-3, 1-2 PSAC) took to the road on Friday night for a big PSAC match against the Clarion Golden Eagles(11-4,2-1 PSAC). Clarion would go on to win in four sets (25-23, 23-25, 25-22, 25-23).
How it Happened:
  • The first set was a back and forth affair the entire time with neither side holding more than a four point lead. West Chester temporarily took the lead midway through the set when they held a 17-15 advantage but Clarion would battle back to win the set 25-23.
  • The second set was tight once again with each team trading points throughout the set. The Golden Rams were able to grab some crucial momentum late in the set and they would ride this momentum to a 25-23 second set victory.
  • The Golden Rams and Golden Eagles continued to battle in the third set but the Golden Eagles would ultimately emerge victorious by a score of 25-22.
  •  The fourth set was tight once again with each side playing extremely well but Clarion would ultimately prove to be too much to handle as they were able to win the fourth set by a score of 25-23 to win the match.
Inside the Numbers:
  • Karleigh Lutz(Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) had another big day as she recorded a team high 17 kills to go along with 18 digs.
  • Jillian Grammer(Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) led the way in assists once again contributing 38 assists along with three aces and 10 digs of her own.
  • Allie Duffy(Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) worked hard all match recording six kills and a match best ten blocks on the evening.
  • Nicki Yates(Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) continued her stretch of strong play recording a team high 36 digs and four assists on the night.
Up Next:
The Golden Rams continue their PSAC Southwest swing tomorrow as they travel to IUP (Pa.) with that match scheduled to begin at 1 pm.
