WEST CHESTER, Pa. - On Wednesday evening, the West Chester University women's volleyball (5-0) took to the road for a mid-week, non-conference matchup at Holy Family University (2-1). The Golden Rams went on to win the match in straight sets (25-21, 25-18, 25-22).
PSAC Southeastern Division player of the week, senior Karleigh Lutz (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley), had a strong night for the Golden Rams as she recorded 14 kills and 13 digs to lead the Golden Rams in both categories. Junior Abbie Dischert (Wilmington, Del./Concord) had a strong night as well as she was able to record 11 kills of her own to help carry the load for the Golden Rams.
Junior Jillian Grammer (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) had a big night of her own as she distributed 32 assists and added eight digs to help keep the West Chester attack alive. Grammer's teammate senior Nicki Yates (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) added another eight digs to further solidify the Golden Ram defense.
The Golden Rams had a relatively solid night in terms of hitting percentage as they claimed a hitting percentage of .252 for the evening while the Tigers were limited to a percentage of just .171 for the match.
The Golden Rams also managed to out block their hosts by a 5-2 margin for the match.
The Golden Rams return to the court on Friday September 8 when they travel to Millersville to compete in the Marauder Clash with their first match getting underway at 2 pm when they square off against U Sciences getting underway at 2 p.m.
