WEST CHESTER, Pa. – West Chester University's women's gymnastics squad opened up its 2018 campaign with a solid all-around performance in sweeping a quad meet it hosted inside Sturzebecker HSC Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Rams won three of the four events in the meet and placed second in the other. West Chester gymnasts captured two of the top three spots on the uneven bars and three of the top four spots on the balance beam. Meanwhile, teammates
Emily Loughery (Telford, Pa.) and
Madi Brent (Waxhaw, N.C.) took the top two spots, respectively, on the floor. Loughery scored a 9.7 on the floor, topping Brent's 9.575. So.,
Paige Parsnik (Plains, Pa.) tied for third on the floor with a 9.55 as well. West Chester captured this event with a 47.575.

So., All-American
Sarah Boyd (St. Petersburg, Fla.) won the balance beam with a score of 9.8. Freshman
Yoli Nodarse (Pompton Plains, N.J.) was third with a 9.75, and Jr.,
Cassie Hageman (Carlisle, Pa.) was fourth with a 9.725. West Chester won the beam competition with a 48.4.

Myranda Marshall (Lancaster, Pa.) won the uneven bars with a score of 9.7. Freshman
Melanie Wojewoda (Amelia, Ohio) was third with a 9.525.

Meghan Chan (Northvale, N.J.) placed third on the vault with a 9.6. The vault was the one event that the Golden Rams did not win on Saturday. Chan was the Rams' highest finisher.

The gymnasts travel to Ursinus on Jan. 21 for its next competition of 2018.
