West Chester Takes tri-match At Home

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – West Chester University's women's gymnastics team swept its tri-match with wins over SUNY Cortland and Rhode Island College in Sturzebecker HSC Saturday afternoon.
 
The Golden Rams (6-0) won three of the four events while placing second in the other. The WCU gymnasts secured the top three spots in both the vault and uneven bars. Concurrently, Sarah Boyd (St, Petersburg, Fla.) and Yoli Nodarse (Pompton Plains, N.J.) both clinched third place on the beam in a tie with a score of 9.775.  West Chester placed second overall in the beams with 48.125
 
Emily Loughery (Telford, Pa.) took the top spot on the floor with a score of 9.775 with Casandra Hageman (Carlise, Pa.) coming in at third place with a score of 9.650. The Golden Rams won the floor event with a 48.125.
 
Jessica Meakim (Downingtown, Pa.) took first in the vault with a score 9.675.  Meghan Chan (Northvale, N.J.) and Lindsey Mathis (Waldorf, Md.) tied for second with 9.575 and Rachel Blair (Telford, Pa.) took the third spot with a score of 9.550.  The Golden Rams captured this event with a 47.825.
 
Myranda Marshall (Lancaster, Pa.) took first on the bars with a 9.725.  Chan was second place with a 9.625 and Melanie Wojewoda (Amelia, Ohio) captured third with a 9.6. West Chester took first place overall on the bars with a score of 47.975.
WCU walked away with a win for the meet with a score of 192.050.
 
The gymnasts travel to Rutgers University for a quad meet with Ohio University, Wisconsin-Whitewater and host Rutgers on February 3.
