WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Lex Rosario (Matamoras, Pa./Delaware Valley) caught seven passes for 121 yards and a touchdown while host and 11th-ranked West Chester ran up 564 yards of total offense during a 48-14 victory over visiting Lock Haven on Homecoming Weekend at John A. Farrell Stadium Saturday.
West Chester (9-0, 6-0 PSAC East) will travel to Slippery Rock next Saturday afternoon for the 2018 PSAC Championship Game at 1 p.m. from Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. The Golden Rams are 9-0 to start a season for the first time since 2014. Lock Haven (1-8, 1-5 PSAC East) dropped its sixth straight.
Sr., RB Mike Class (Souderton, Pa./Pennridge) rushed for 71 yards and a career-high three touchdowns to pace the Golden Rams' offense. A.J. Long (Bethlehem, Pa./Friendship Christian [Tenn.]) went 18-for-21 for 245 yards. Paul Dooley (Philadelphia, Pa./Springside-Chestnut Hill) went 8-for-11 for 120 yards and a pair of touchdown throws.
With West Chester clinging to a 10-7 lead after the first 15 minutes of play, the Golden Rams went a 31-0 run over the next two quarters to put the game out of reach. Gabe Schappell (Reading, Pa./Exeter) hauled in a 50-yard strike from Dooley in the second quarter to get things sstarted. Class ran in from two yards out, and then Andrew Chegia (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) kicked a 24-yard field goal to make it a 27-7 game. Long ran in from one yard out, and Class busted off a 21-yard score after halftime to put the game out of reach.
Lock Haven's Bryan Greene caught a 14-yard TD pass to open the fourth quarter. But, West Chester answered with a 15-yard strike from Dooley to Rosario in the back of the end zone to close out the scoring.
Jarey Elder (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) finished with six tackles, one interception in the end zone and one pass breakup. Elder was one of three WCU players with six stops on the day. Nate Barnes (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) and Tyler Morrissey (Springfield, Pa./Springfield-DELCO) were the others.
