WEST CHESTER, Pa.- West Chester women's basketball (4-4, 0-1 PSAC) opened its PSAC slate of games on Saturday afternoon at home against No. 19 Edinboro (3-1, 1-0 PSAC). The game remained close early on but a pair of runs from Edinboro proved to be too much for West Chester to handle in the 91-72 loss.

How it Happened:
- In the first quarter, the two teams traded baskets over the course of the opening minute and a half before a three-minute stretch where neither team managed to score, thus, leaving the scored tied at 4-4 with five minutes to play in the first. West Chester briefly held the lead at 6-4 with a touch over 4:30 to play but Edinboro answered right back and ended the quarter with a slim 11-10 lead over its hosts.
- West Chester reclaimed a slim one-point lead to open the second quarter before Edinboro went on a run to outscore West Chester 27-20 in the second quarter, which gave the Fighting Scots a 38-30 lead heading to the halftime break.
- After halftime, the third quarter was close once again as each side managed to exceed the 20-point plateau once again as Edinboro scored 28 points while West Chester mustered 25 points of its own. However, this 28-point third quarter still enabled Edinboro to take a double-digit lead making the score 66-55 heading to the fourth.
- In the fourth quarter, both sides continued to battle but Edinboro had the upper hand as the Fighting Scots outscored the Golden Rams 25-17 in the quarter to come away with the victory by a final score of 91-72.
Golden Ram Rundown:
- Destiny Jefferson (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton) was the Golden Rams leading scorer once again as she scored 22 points while also coming away with seven rebounds and four assists in the loss. Teammate Gabrielle Troisi (Norristown, Pa./Pope John Paul II) narrowly missed another double-double as she poured in 17 points of her own while also coming away with nine rebounds in the defeat. Zhane Snow (Wilmington, Del./Concord) found her way into double-figures yet again as she scored 11 points while also pulling down four rebounds.
- West Chester was 23-of-65 (35.4 %) from the field while going just 3-for-15 (15.0 %) from beyond the arc. West Chester also went 23-for-31 (74.2 %) from the charity stripe.
- At the end of the game, the two teams were tied in rebounds at 39 rebounds apiece although West Chester held an 18-13 edge on the offensive glass while trailing 26-21 on the defensive glass.
- The Golden Rams also ended the game with advantages in second-chance points (21-16), bench points (12-3), and points in the paint (32-30).
For the Fighting Scots:
- All five of Edinboro's starters managed to score in double-figures on Saturday afternoon led by a 25 point performance from Jontay Walton and a pair of 18 point performances from Michaela Barnes and Ciara Rosten.
- The Fighting Scots ended the game shooting 26-of-60 (43.3 %) from the field and 8-of-22 (36.4 %) from deep. Edinboro also ended the game 31-for-36 (86.1 %) from the line.
- Edinboro also ended the game with a slim plus-one (18-17) advantage in turnovers thanks in large part to a pair of three steal performances from Walton and Michelle Jahn.
