Women's Gymnastics Second At Maryland Meet

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Golden Rams women's gymnastics team placed second in a five-team meet hosted by University of Maryland at the Xfinity Center Sunday afternoon.
 
West Chester (14-7) scored a 193.325 topping Bridgeport (191.9), Cornell (193.225) and Southern Connecticut State (191.95). Host Maryland won the event with a score of 196.325. It marked the second straight meet in which the Golden Rams topped 193 points and was the second-best score of the season.
 
West Chester topped ECAC rivals Southern Connecticut State and Bridgeport on Sunday. Those three schools will meet at the ECAC Championships in two weeks. The Golden Rams also topped Bridgeport and Southern Connecticut State for the second time in two meetings this year.
 
Sr., Megan Chan (Northvale, N.J.) was West Chester's top scorer on the vault placing fifth at the meet with a 9.7, and collectively the team scored a 48.025.
 
Melanie Wojewoda (Amelia, Ohio) tied for fourth at the meet on the bars and was West Chester's top scorer with a 9.825. Myranda Marshall tied for fifth with a 9.8. WCU's total bar score was a 48.525.
 
Jordan Miranda (Winchester, Mass.) was the Golden Rams' top scorer on the beam with a 9.725 and placed sixth at the meet. WCU's total bam score was a 48.025.
 
Jessica Meakim (Downingtown, Pa.) tied for third on the floor exercise with a 9.875. Meakim was WCU's top scorer, and collectively the team scored a 48.750. 
 
West Chester's gymnastics team is back in action on Saturday, March 17 at home against Southern Connecticut State University in a meet that will be held inside Hollinger Field House. It will serve as the final tune-up for the ECAC Championships, which are slated to take place March 24 in New Haven, Conn.
