WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The West Chester University men's soccer team (4-1-2, 2-0-1 PSAC) squared off against Pitt-Johnstown (2-4-0, 0-3-0 PSAC) in PSAC action. West Chester overcame its offensive challenges from earlier in the season to cruise to a 4-0 victory.
How It Happened
- Doug Goitia (Mount Pocono, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) broke through first in the eighth minute after a great move to make a defender miss Goitia buried the ball into the back of the net to take the early 1-0 lead.
- Nick Jachwak (Soudeton, Pa./Souderton Area) scored again in the 20th minute off a perfectly placed free kick to move the lead to 2-0 halfway through the opening half.
- Goitia added one more goal in the 25th minute off an assist from Andrew Slater (Hanover, Pa./South West) to move the score to 3-0.
- Goitia added one more goal in the 51st minute off an assist from Nico Meola to move the score to 4-0, which would prove to be the final score in this contest.
Inside the Numbers
- In the first half, West Chester outshot its guests by a huge 13-2 margin. West Chester also held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks at the end of the first half.
- West Chester maintained its advantage in shots through the second half ending the game leading Pitt-Johnstown 21-3 in this margin. West Chester also held a decisive 12-0 advantage in corner kicks by the end of the game.
- Will Marshall (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny) played well making three saves on the day while his Pitt-Johnstown counterparts Jonathan Reboton and Josh Zakrzewski both made four saves to try and slow down the West Chester offense.
