BLOOMSBURG, Pa.- The West Chester University men's soccer team (4-2-2, 2-1-1 PSAC) was back in action on a rainy, Sunday afternoon on the road at PSAC rival Bloomsburg (4-4-0, 2-2-0 PSAC). Bloomsburg used a strong second half to defeat West Chester by a final score of 2-1.
How it Happened:
- Craig Potts (Stewartson, Pa./Kennard-Dale) scored his first career goal on a header in the 24th minute to put West Chester ahead 1-0 midway through the first half.
- In the second half, Tyler Madeira scored twice in the span of two minutes to give Bloomsburg the 2-1 lead in the 75th minute.
Inside the Numbers:
- In the first half, West Chester outshot its hosts by an 8-3 margin including a 4-1 advantage in shots on goal to pressure the Bloomsburg defense, which eventually led to West Chester's 1-0 lead.
- West Chester ended the game with a 20-7 edge in shots and a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal but it was not enough to defeat Bloomsburg on Sunday afternoon.
- West Chester also held a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks by the end of the contest.
- Will Marshall (North Versailles, Pa./East Allgeheny) made one save in goal in the loss. Marshall's counterpart Brock Gould worked hard throughout the afternoon for Bloomsburg making eight huge saves to hold the always dangerous West Chester offense to just one goal on the afternoon.
- This afternoon's loss brings West Chester's 22-match PSAC unbeaten streak to a close. This impressive streak got underway all the way back on September 17th, 2016 when West Chester rolled past California (Pa.) by a final score of 2-1.
