WEST CHESTER, Pa.- On the heels of a disappointing 1-0 loss to Georgian Court the West Chester University men's soccer team (1-1-1) returned home to square off against Wilmington (1-0-2). The Golden Rams and Wildcats battled through 110 minutes of soccer in scorching heat but neither side managed to put away a goal, thus, ending the game in a 1-1 draw.
How it Happened:
- Wilmington outshot the Golden Rams throughout the contest opening the game with a 4-2 advantage in the first half, before outshooting West Chester 9-2 in the second half, and 5-1 over the course of the two 20 minute overtimes. This allowed Wilmington to end the contest with a 18-5 advantage in shots overall and a 9-1 advantage in shots on goal.
- Each side had its opportunities late in the contest, but thanks to a combination of strong defensive play and some bad luck neither side was able to able to break through for the decisive goal.
- Wilmington also held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
- West Chester goalie James Wood (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) was lights out all afternoon as he made six big saves in 86 minutes of action. Will Marshall (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny) entering for the final few minutes of regulation and both overtimes and he made three impressive saves of his own to keep Wilmington off the scoreboard late. Wilmington goalie Vinny Tasca also made one very impressive save to deny a great scoring opportunity generated by the Golden Rams.

West Chester will take to the road once again traveling to East Stroudsburg next Wednesday for its PSAC opener with that game scheduled to get underway at 6:30 p.m.
