Homecoming Preparations In Place For Saturday's Football Game

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University and the athletic department announced its annual preparations for the Homecoming Weekend football contest on Saturday against East Stroudsburg at 2 p.m. Spectators are strongly encouraged to car pool, plan to arrive very early and expect delays when heading to South Campus on Saturday.

All parking in and around Farrell Stadium are pay lots. Spectators will have to pay $10 per car to park. Parking lots open at 8 a.m. Parking will be at a premium. Tailgating is explained below while the school's tailgating policy is located on the school's web site on the football page, but can be found HERE as well. Tickets to Saturday's football game can be purchased online and printed at home by visiting The WCU Box Office. Tickets are $12 for reserved bench seating, $10 for general admission and $7 for children, or senior citizens. WCU students with a valid ID will be admitted free.

West Chester University ("WCU" or "University") recognizes that University Homecoming athletic events are an important part of the University experience. As such, the University encourages safe and responsible socializing for those students, alumni, and fans who attend these events. This includes support for tailgating and other Homecoming activities that build community, show support for student-athletes, and offer opportunities for social interaction. The University expects that all members of the University community who participate in tailgating (including students and guests) will abide by local, state, and federal law, as well as WCU policies and procedures. A tailgating participant who violates any of these policies is subject to disciplinary action. Every individual participating in tailgating must act in a safe and responsible manner that allows everyone to enjoy University Homecoming and athletic events. Therefore, this communication is to provide information about the upcoming Homecoming tailgating events.

We are excited to welcome our valued alumni and guests to campus to reconnect and enjoy the Ram Spirit of Homecoming. There are some modifications to the tailgating policy that will be implemented for the Homecoming game only.

The University has an obligation to prioritize safety during any event, especially Homecoming. We recognize the traditions that many groups of alumni and students have created over the years, therefore, the modifications described below were agreed upon from conversations involving the Office of Alumni Relations, WCU Alumni Association, the Black Alumni Chapter, the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, the Lawrence A. Dowdy Multicultural Center, the Department of Public Safety, Athletics, and the Division of Student Affairs. The Department of Public Safety has oversight of students' and participants' safety, which remains the primary focus for these modifications.
