West Chester (3-3) will try to move above the .500-win plateau on the season if it can pick up a victory over Lackawanna (0-6). The Golden Rams have not lost back-to-back home games in consecutive weekends since the first two games of 2024 against Bentley and California (Pa.).

In June 2025, Lackawanna College announced its intention to transition from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) to the NCAA and the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), while also beginning the process of evolving from a two-year institution into a four-year college. The 2025-26 athletic season marked the conclusion of Lackawanna's NJCAA membership, which had been its home since 1958.

Beginning with the 2026-27 season, the Falcons are competing exclusively against four-year institutions, including a full schedule of PSAC opponents across all sports.

Lackawanna will pursue NCAA membership and progress through the transition process before eventually seeking full membership in both the PSAC and NCAA Division II. The process is expected to take three to five years, depending on a variety of factors.

Running Back Jalen Fletcher leads the Falcons' offense with 267 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Quarterback David Naniewicz has completed 53 percent of his passes this season, throwing two touchdown passes against 10 interceptions. Lackawanna will likely lean heavily on Fletcher and its ground game Saturday night. The Falcons have struggled most when forced to play from behind by multiple scores.

Linebacker Brodie Daugherty anchors the Lackawanna defense, leading the team with 31 tackles through six games. He also has recorded three tackles for loss, including one sack, and two quarterback hurries.

West Chester returns to Farrell Stadium for its second consecutive home game, marking the first time this season the Golden Rams have played back-to-back contests at home. The purple and gold are looking to deliver a strong performance and snap a two-game losing streak. With next week's showdown against No. 3 Kutztown on the horizon, West Chester will look to capitalize on Saturday night's opportunity against a Lackawanna squad still searching for its first win of the season.

The Golden Rams' defense has been a consistent strength, ranking fifth in the PSAC and 39th nationally. The unit has kept West Chester competitive and provided opportunities for the team to win. On Saturday, the defense will face a Falcons offense averaging just seven points and 217 total yards per game. Middle linebackers Ricardo Delgado and Luke Trunell lead the Golden Rams in tackles with 47 and 41, respectively. Delgado ranks 10th in the PSAC in tackles entering Saturday's contest.

Offensively, running backs Mikhail Johnson and Future Robertson have made an impact both on the ground and as receivers out of the backfield. Johnson leads West Chester with 327 rushing yards and two touchdowns while adding 11 receptions, including two receiving touchdowns. Robertson has rushed for 227 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 4.5 yards per carry. He also ranks second on the team with 15 receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown.
