WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University women's basketball played a tight game with non-conference opponent Jefferson University until the very end, ultimately losing 70-56 at Hollinger Field House on Sunday afternoon.

Gabrielle Troisi (Norristown, Pa. / Pope John Paul II) was just shy of a triple-double as she recorded nine rebounds and eight assists to go along with 10 points. The physical and flashy guard is averaging 8.8 points, 8.5 rebounds and 7.8 assists over the first four games of the season.

Jefferson (2-2) had the lead throughout the entire game, but West Chester (2-2) only trailed 57-54 with 4:05 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Katherine Fisher (Rutledge, Pa. / Strath Haven) led Troisi and two other Golden Rams that scored in double-figures on Sunday with 17 points. Redshirt seniorÂ

Leah Johnson (Columbus, N.J. / Notre Dame) had 10.

West Chester excelled at the free throw line, making 16-of-20 attempts. However, the Golden Rams were doomed by their 2-for-23 effort from beyond the three-point line today.

WCU has a quick chance to bounce back with another non-conference home game on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. against Lincoln University. The Golden Rams begin conference play following the Lincoln game on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Gannon University and Sunday at 1 p.m. against Clarion University.
