Off to a 6-0 start, West Chester University men's basketball welcomes a winless Wilmington (Del.) team to Hollinger Field House on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving at 6 p.m.
The Golden Rams traveled to Wilmington last season and lost 68-64 to a Wildcats (0-5)Â team that went on to finish the season with a 12-17 record. Through five games this season, Wilmington senior guard Jermaine Head is currently leading all players in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference at 23 points per game, shooting 49.4 percent from the field while making 2.6 threes on average.
West Chester has received production from several different players over the early part of its currently undefeated season. Freshman Robbie Heath (Whittlesea, Australia / Abington) is leading four Golden Rams that are averaging double-digit points this season at 21.2 per game, which ranks third in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. Sophomore Josh Samec (Trecksow, Pa. / Hazelton Area), in his first season seeing good time on the court, sits at 10.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest thus far. He has two double-doubles in West Chester's last four games.
After the Wilmington game, West Chester will complete its slate of non-conference games for the 2019-20 regular season at Chestnut Hill College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
