PHILADELPHIA - Freshman
Robbie Heath (Whittlesea, Australia / Abington) scored a season-high 37 points in West Chester University men's basketball's 95-74 rout of Chestnut Hill College on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Rams are now 8-0 this season.
Heath, averaging 23.5 points per game, has already eclipsed 30 points twice over the first eight games of his college career. He shot 11-of-19 from the field, 6-of-10 from three-point range and 9-of-10 from the free throw line in Saturday's win. He only turned the ball over once while grabbing five rebounds and handing out four assists in 34 minutes played.
The Griffins (0-6) lingered around for most of the game, never letting it get too out of hand until the end. West Chester senior
Malik Jackson (Lansdowne, Pa. / Penn Wood) contributed with 13 points in the first half as the Golden Rams led 50-39 when it ended. Jackson finished the game with 16, just shy of his 16.8 season average.
The Griffins went on a run that had them trailing 67-58 with 9:42 left in the second half. However, WCU pulled away, and junior
Colin Daly (Havertown, Pa. / Archbishop Carroll) knocked down a three that gave the Golden Rams their largest lead of the game at 95-70 with 43 seconds remaining in regulation.
West Chester has cruised to its undefeated start, winning its games by 16 points on average. The Golden Rams don't have any non-conference games left on their 2019-20 regular season schedule. They are already 2-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play with just three games left to play before the New Year, all at Hollinger Field House.
WCU is at home against Mercyhurst on December 7 at 3 p.m., California (Pa.) on December 20 at 7:30 p.m. and Slippery Rock on December 21 at 7:30 p.m.
