West Chester Gymnasts Set More Career Highs In Tri-Meet Victory

CORTLAND, NY – West Chester set season-highs on three of the four events while eclipsing last week's season-best overall team score en route to victories over host SUNY Cortland and Ursinus Saturday afternoon in a non-league tri-meet.
 
West Chester (6-2) posted a 192.625, besting Cortland (186.975) and Ursinus (186.15) for the win Saturday. Along the way, the Golden Rams posted season highs on the balance beam, floor exercise and the vault while winning the individual title in all four events.
 
Yoli Nodarse (Pompton Plains, N.J.) tied for first on the beam with a 9.825. Meanwhile, Sarah Boyd (St. Petersburg, Fla.) placed third with a 9.775, and Jordan Miranda (Winchester, Mass.) was tied for fourth with a 9.725. West Chester finished with a 48.7 on the beam as a result.
 
Freshman Rose Fanara (Fredericksburg, Va.) captured the floor exercise with a career-high 9.85 while Brashlyn Johnson (Aynor, S.C.), McKenna Kissinger (Chambersburg, Pa.) and Nodarse all tied for third with scores of 9.75. The Golden Rams posted a 48.825 on the floor to set a new season standard.
 
Senior Jessica Meakim (Downingtown, Pa.) took first on the vault with a 9.775 while Johnson was runner-up with a 9.7, and Lindsey Mathis (Waldorf, Md.) was third with a 9.675. West Chester scored a 48.175 on the vault.
 
Myranda Marshall (Lancaster, Pa.) won the uneven bars with a score of 9.75 while Meakim placed second with a 9.55.
 
West Chester returns home next Friday evening when the Golden Rams host both William & Mary and Rhode Island College at 7 p.m. inside the Sturzebecker Health Science Center.
