SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.- The West Chester University women's tennis team was back in action on Wednesday afternoon on the road at PSAC rival Shippensburg. West Chester cruised to the victory over its rival winning by a final of 6-0.
Doubles:
Rylee Power (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) and Alyssa Skulsky (Churchville, Pa./Council Rock South) teamed up to capture first doubles easily winning by a final of 6-1 before reigning PSAC East athlete of the week Danisa Errid (Jakarta, Indonesia/ES International School) and Leandra Roelker(Allentown, Pa./Salisbury) took second doubles 6-0. Shannon Nixon (Wyncote, Pa./Cheltenham) and Julia Mowrey (Bethlehem, Pa./Notre Dame) took third doubles by default to give West Chester an early 1-0 lead.
Singles:
In first singles, Power rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 victory before Errid captured second singles 6-0, 6-0 to improve the Golden Rams lead to 3-0. In third singles, Skulsky captured the victory 6-1, 6-1Â while Roelker earned the fourth singles victory 6-1, 6-1 to give the purple and gold a commanding lead. Elaina Rochford (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the fifth singles spot to give West Chester the 6-0 victory.
