#10 WCU Hopes To Tie And Break Record For Best Start In Team History

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - No. 10-ranked West Chester University men's basketball is 11-0 as it prepares for a home game against Shepherd University on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and a road game at Edinboro University on Monday at 7:30 p.m.

West Chester is one win shy of tying the program record for best start to a season, which happened in 2017-18. The longest win streak in team history was 15 in the middle of last season.

Shepherd, in its first year as a PSAC member, will come to Hollinger Field House on Friday night with a 6-5 overall record and 2-3 conference record this season. It will be the first PSAC East Division matchup this season for both teams. West Chester and Shepherd last met on Nov. 30, 2005, and the Golden Rams lost 66-63.

The Golden Rams are the only team with an undefeated record in the PSAC this season at 5-0. They are one of two teams with an undefeated overall record in Division II. The other is Bellarmine University at 8-0, currently ranked No. 1 in the country.

Monday's road game will be West Chester's first since a 95-74 victory at Chestnut Hill on November 30. Edinboro, a member of the PSAC West, is currently 5-4 overall and 2-3 in conference. The Golden Rams blew out the Fighting Scots 88-37 in the only meeting between the two teams last season.

West Chester is led by HoopDirt.com's reigning Division II National Coach of the Week in Damien Blair, currently in his 12th season leading the Golden Rams with a 219-108 record during that time.

The team's leading scorers are freshman Robbie Heath (Whittlesea, Australia / Abington) and senior Malik Jackson (Lansdowne, Pa. / Penn Wood) at 25.1 and 17.9 points per game, respectively. Heath is ninth in the country in scoring in Division II and second in the country among freshmen across all levels of NCAA basketball. Jackson has climbed seven spots this season to No. 7 on West Chester's all-time scoring list with 1,524 career points.

PARKING MAP - Sharpless Street Garage will be the best option, and it becomes free 90 minutes prior to the women's game set for 5:30 pm. and remains open well after the men's game ends. The men's game begins at 7:30 p.m.
