EDINBORO, Pa. - West Chester University women's basketball held a 61-60 lead with under four minutes remaining in a game at Edinboro University on Monday but ultimately lost 69-66 in a battle that came down to the wire.

The Golden Rams (3-9 overall, 1-6 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) have lost five straight games by 16 points combined. Of West Chester's nine losses this season, only one was by a double-digit point margin.

The Fighting Scots (3-4, 5-6) have now won four straight against the Golden Rams, but the past three victories were by 21.6 points on average. That said, losing by one possession on Monday was a drastic step in the right direction for WCU.

West Chester and Edinboro traded leads 13 times, and the game was never separated by more than seven points. West Chester took its final lead on a three-pointer by freshman forward
Sasha Marvel (Medford Lakes, N.J. / Caravel Academy) before Edinboro gained control and won the game.

Leah Johnson (Columbus, N.J. / Notre Dame) continues to put up points in her freshman season, leading West Chester with 18 against the Fighting Scots. She's averaging 20.7 per game over the team's last three contests and leads the Golden Rams at 13.4 points on average this season.
